The KKH opens out into Gilgit-Baltistan. Rakaposhi View Point for tea with the mountain right in front of you, then up the terraces into Karimabad.
A full day in Hunza proper. Baltit and Altit forts in the morning, the old settlement lanes after lunch, then up to Duikar for the valley at golden hour.
North to the lake that formed after the 2010 landslide. Boating on the turquoise water, then the Passu Cones and the Hussaini suspension bridge for those who want it.
Up to the Pakistan–China border at 4,693 m — the highest paved border crossing in the world. Thin air, marmots and snow on the shoulders even in summer.
The long road home down the KKH, with photo stops wherever the light is worth it.
